REGIONAL WORKFORCE INITIATIVE

Learn More Earn More is Northeast Indiana’s regional collaboration designed to strengthen postsecondary attainment to match changing workforce demands. Led by a broad coalition of more than 400 partners across 12 countes in Northeast Indiana,  we conduct research, raise awareness, and measure results. We’re working together toward one goal: helping more people gain the skills and credentials needed for good-paying careers.

A central priority is changing the regional mindset about education beyond high school. Through LearnMoreEarnMore.org, public outreach and shared messaging, the initiative emphasizes that valuable learning can include industry certifications, apprenticeships, two-year degrees and four-year degrees—and can happen at any stage of life.

Our core messages are simple:  Northeast Indiana has opportunities for everyone who’s ready to learn, ready to work, ready to succeed. Today’s good-paying jobs require proof you have the skills to succeed. Learning beyond high school creates opportunity at every stage of life.

REGIONAL DASHBOARD

The Learn More Earn More Regional Dashboard turns the region’s goals into measurable progress, tracking leading indicators and lagging outcomes across education, training and workforce readiness. By watching what is changing—and what is not—partners can focus resources, test strategies and adjust course over time.

Originally launched in November 2025, the regional dashboard will be continually refreshed with updated data, new metrics, enhanced navigation, and stronger regional, state, and national comparisons. Improved data storytelling will make insights easier to understand and act upon.

SHARED INSIGHT

The Advancing Postsecondary Education and Training Study (APETS) was developed in 2024 with guidance from regional education, workforce, employer and community leaders. It examined postsecondary attainment, workforce needs and barriers across Northeast Indiana’s 12 counties.

The study found a widening gap between employer demand and credential attainment, with cost, complexity and lack of individualized guidance limiting progress. It recommends redefining learning beyond high school, simplifying access to financial aid, improving career and credit guidance, expanding wraparound supports, and creating flexible pathways for adult learners.

Mythbusting

Changing Northeast Indiana’s future starts by changing what we believe about education beyond high school. Too many people still assume they must choose between college and the trades, that education is unaffordable, or that it is too late to return. The facts tell a different story: certifications, degrees and flexible training can all lead to stronger careers, and financial support is often available.

By consistently challenging these myths—in schools, workplaces, homes and communities—we can build a new regional expectation: learning beyond high school is not unusual or reserved for a few. It is the normal next step toward opportunity.

Bust a Myth: College Only for Wealthy Families

FACT: College isn’t only for wealthy families—and the sticker price rarely tells the full story. In Northeast Indiana, 97% of students receive some form of financial aid, helping make education beyond high school more affordable. Yet about $70 million in available aid goes unclaimed each year. Why? Too many students and families assume they won’t qualify and never apply. Don’t let assumptions close the door on opportunity. Explore your options with the Compass Fund Finder. Education beyond high school may be more affordable than you think.
